Course Description (Required Components):
  1. Teacher musical preparation of their own students prior to the CMASC Festival.
  2. Course meeting at the event.
  3. CMASC Festival rehearsal observations.
  4. Journal entries reflecting upon methods and strategies used in CMASC rehearsals.
  5. CMASC Concert attendance.
  6. Submission of lesson plan that implements the strategies observed in CMASC rehearsals in the teacher’s classroom.
Course Objectives:
  • Students will successfully prepare their own student(s) for CMASC Festival participation and discern ways in which to apply observed conducting and rehearsal techniques from CMASC rehearsals to their own teaching.
  • Students will evaluate and reflect on the effectiveness of the conducting gestures and rehearsal techniques of guest clinicians.
  • Students will apply rehearsal techniques in their own classrooms.
